Application Note: Force Transducer Design for Measuring Neck Muscular Efforts in Paediatrics

Prepared by Ian Gilchrist (Ph.D. student) and Lucie Pelland (PT, Ph.D.), School of Rehabilitation Therapy, Queen’s University, in co-operation with CMC Microsystems.

This application note describes the design of a pressure force transducer to measure maximum and sub-maximum neck muscular efforts in paediatrics. The design is based upon a commercially available load cell, using a commercially available static dynamometer system.

The application will be of importance to researchers and clinicians interested in the measurement of isometric neck muscle strength in children and adolescents.

All CMC Microsystem account holders from a member university with a Subscription are authorized to access this application note. For more information, contact licensing@cmc.ca or 613-530-4787.
